Walberton Place Care Home was officially opened on Thursday 25th April by Suzanne Clark, the chair of Walberton Parish Council, when she carried out the ribbon cutting at this special event. Lucy Ashworth, Mayor of Arundel also attended this opening event along with sixty people which included professional from the health care sector, local GPs, members of schools, local groups and other local services.
Managing director of Country Court Care, Alykhan Kachra said “We are pleased so many local people have visited to see this newly opened care home. We have felt extremely welcome in the village and we are eager to continue to build relationships within the local area and make the care home a real bonus for the area.
An open day was held on Sunday 28th April following the event of cutting the ribbon and this was open to the public. More than one hundred local people attended the event and they enjoyed a tour around the home, meeting with care team professionals and they also sampled the mouthwatering menus.
Walberton Place Care Home is an exciting new care home, which has been built in the area which was occupied by the former care home facility. The care home offers eighty luxurious ensuite bedrooms which each feature a walk-in style wet room. This care home will offer residential and specialist dementia care. The interior decoration of the home is beautiful, and the dining and lounge areas have been inspired by the surrounding area.
This care home has a lot of additional features including tearoom (‘Honey Pot’) , hairdressing salon (‘Elegance’) , cinema room and a courtyard garden that is enclosed. The home even features a pub which is name the Horse & Jockey after the nearby racecourse that is located at Fontwell Park.
Walberton Place Care Home offers dedicated activities that are dementia friendly and this includes an interactive Omi table. This projection system is interactive and includes music, social activities and games to motivate and engage all generations. Walberton Place residents can enjoy joining in with a vast array of activities daily which will be tailored to meet the requirements of the individual resident. The choices will include crafts, gardening, singing and games.
Home manager, Cheryl Rolt will lead the care team, she has several years of care experience within the sector. Cheryl has recently relocated in West Sussex with her husband Peter. She was previously the manager at Country Court Care’ Lakeview Lodge Care Home in Milton Keynes, where she assisted their team to gain an overall Good CQC rating with outstanding responsiveness.
Cheryl said “We are pleased that such a large number of local people have visited the care home, we have started building good relationships with schools, various groups in the local area and churches. The care home will provide an ideal location to invite local community groups to join the residents for special events.
Sergio Terrasini will be leading the fine dining, which is provided at Walberton Place, he has a vast amount of experience gained from the care sector and Michelin star restaurants. Sergio Terrasini along with his team will be producing restaurant standard food for the residents on a daily basis. The hospitality team aim to offer a high level of service for the residents with drinks and refreshments being served during the day.
Peter Rolt is the Customer Relations Manager and he said “Walberton Place has been built to resemble a 5-star hotel and it provides a homely and welcoming atmosphere whilst having a tasteful feel. This care home is glamorous and comfortable with the aim to become a part of the local Walberton community. We are thrilled and proud to be representing Country Court Care in this area”.
The luxurious care home has already created 30 new jobs in the village and more positions will be available over the next year. The Country Court Care Group runs thirty two care homes and provide care for about 1600 elderly people across the UK. The company was awarded Health Investor Residential Care Provider for the Year during 2015. In 2018 they were in the Top 20 Care Home Groups as nominated by carehome.co.uk.
