This week residents and staff at Riverdale Court care home welcomed guests and celebrated the opening of their new Sparkle Café.
Behind the scenes work on the café began several months ago. Staff and residents were involved with the progress, including the writing new menus, designing new signage and recruiting staff and residents to help run the café.
The café has also teamed up with the "Warm Welcome" campaign to provide a warm, safe place for those affected by the cost of living crisis.
The Sparkle Café opened its doors with various home-cooked cakes, savouries, and a vast selection of hot and cold drinks.
Riverside Court is owned by Avante Care & Support, a registered charity, established in 1990. Avante Care & Supports Managing Director, Stuart Cross, was at the opening day to cut the ribbon to officially open the Sparkle Café.
Stuart took the opportunity to thank staff for their notable team effort and hard work and thanked residents Roger, Bill
and Myra, who have all expressed an interest in helping run the café with staff.
The Sparkle Café is open to all;
Monday to Friday
10 am – 3 pm, and can cater to all occasions, including a quick snack on the go or a leisurely lunch with friends.
