Staff at Hollyfields & Ivy House Care Home in Kidderminster have launched a festive initiative to provide gifts for the less fortunate this Christmas.
Hollyfields Care Home provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 43 residents from respite care to long term stays and is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers.
Neighbours and friends of the home have been invited to “Give a Gift, Raise a Smile” and charitably donate items to the team at the care home on Habberley Road, who will be filling gift-wrapped shoe-boxes with thoughtful donations, and personally delivering them to people in the community who may find themselves feeling lonely or isolated this Christmas.
Donation requests include toiletries, hats, scarves gloves and anything else that could help or bring a bit of joy during what can be a difficult and lonely time for some.
Michael Butler, award winning, Activities Coordinator at Hollyfields Care Home came up with the campaign idea and said “We always make the most of Christmas here at Hollyfields but this year we thought we would reach out to those in our community who might need some extra support during this time of year.
Donations have been coming in thick and fast but we still have a long way to go if we are to make a difference this Christmas. We are asking the Community, Local Businesses, Residents and Families to help support our campaign."
Fiona Brewin, General Manager at the home said “We are all very excited about this campaign and can’t wait to share these gifts with our local community, All donations large and small would be of great help and would move us one step closer to help combat loneliness this Christmas”
