Emily Ramsey was born in Buckden on the 16th May 1921 and went into service at a doctor’s when she left school at 14. She remained there until she married in 1940. Emily has two sons, three daughters plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She celebrated her 101st birthday with staff and residents at Ferrars Hall Care Home in Huntingdon, where she has lived since November 2019.
Emily’s secret to a long life is hard work, her loving family and the carers looking after her at Ferrars Hall.
Staff held an afternoon tea party for Emily complete with balloons and a cake baked by Chef Caroline Tyrkot. Emily had a lovely time opening her cards and gifts. And also enjoyed a game of birthday bingo with her friends.
Home Manager Susan Dunnell said, “We wish Emily a very happy 101st Birthday from everyone here at Ferrars Hall. Emily is a wonderful and much-loved member of our Ferrars Hall family, she loves knitting, reminiscing about working on her farm and chatting with other residents. It was lovely to see her enjoying her special day”.
