Autumn Activities Competition Time

Inspired by my "Here comes November" blog post, author, former activities coordinator and an ongoing social care advocate, Jenni Page is offering 5 free copies of her children's book "When I grow up I want to be a carer".

Introducing more indoor activities, creating cosy spaces where residents can enjoy stories is a great start to embracing the colder months.

What's even better is sharing these activities with younger generations. Intergenerational activities are widely recognised as being very beneficial to both young and old.

Turn-taking with reading aloud or residents reading to younger children is such a wholesome and enjoyable activity.

Books about autumn, nature, or nostalgic classics work well during these darker, quieter months. But, perhaps a genre you haven't considered, you could include books which explain more about life in care homes, understanding dementia and other similar books written specifically for children.

Jenni's book promotes awareness of social care and the essential work carers do. It is written in rhyming verse (she's a big fan of Julia Donaldson) and is very accessible for young children.
