Guest blog from Simon Guntrip Ballroom, Latin American & Argentine Tango & singing with residents at bestfootforward.dance
Usually, I would be going into different care homes to dance and sing with the residents and give a bit of teaching to the staff. However, because of Covid I have been working as an activities assistant in one of these homes.
Last week, we were lucky enough to be able to start up some group activities again.
We got as many residence as we were allowed, to sit in the large café that we have downstairs and we did music requests with dancing.
Each resident called out in turn a piece of music that they wanted to listen to and then I did a dance demonstration to it, or danced with Lisa-Maria the activities manager.
It was such fun! It was great to fill the home with music again and to be able to do some dancing!
There was so much laughter and smiling faces!
A lot of you will know how much I love my socks & how much the residents like them when I do some dancing in the carehomes.
Well, one of the ladies I see very regularly, liked them so much, she decided to catch a matching pair!
I’m looking forward to being able to get back to some other homes, to do something similar soon!
Fingers crossed!!
